Proteins are essential for every living organism, acting as the building blocks of life. They are involved in everything from building muscle tissue to facilitating the biochemical reactions needed for survival. This post explores why proteins are so important, delves into their structure, types, and functions, and provides a thorough understanding of their significance in our health and well-being.
What are Proteins?
Proteins are large, complex molecules formed from chains of amino acids. There are 20 different amino acids that can combine in numerous sequences to create a vast array of proteins. Each unique sequence of amino acids gives a protein its specific structure and function in the body.

Classification of Proteins:
1.Solubility
ALBUMINS- Water Soluble
GLOBULINS- Insoluble in Water but soluble in Salt solution
GLUTELINS- Soluble in acid or base solution
PROLAMINES- Soluble in 70% alcohol-water mixture only
2.Function
CARRIER PROTEINS
IMMUNOGLOBINS
STRUCTUAL PROTEINS
NUTRITIONAL PROTEINS
ENZYMES WHICH ARE BIOCATALYSTS
